Your Solo Broadcaster tour

A few minutes to get ready, share your voice and report with confidence.

Step 1 of 7

Open or install Solo Broadcaster

Start at /booth/solo. You can use the browser without installing anything.

Your host, producer and administrator

The host guides the show, agrees when your report fits and invites you to the Green Room for a longer conversation.

The producer helps you prepare, manages the booth opening and programme flow, and can intervene during a broadcast. Solo reporting can also run without a host or producer actively guiding each report, when the booth is open for it.

The administrator approves and manages contributor invitations and PINs, and can restrict or revoke access. Ask your host or producer to arrange help; use the booth’s information button for contact details.

Time, signal loss and returning to the booth

Five uninterrupted live minutes

The normal reporting limit is five continuous minutes after the station confirms the live connection. WRAP appears near the end, followed by a countdown. Without an override, the system ends the report, locks the booth and starts a one-hour reporting pause.

If your connection drops

You are off air. Check your connection or move to a better connection, then choose Go On Air again when available. The first two connection interruptions allow another try without the one-hour pause. A new successful connection starts a fresh five-minute run; time spent finding a connection does not use that live clock. A third interruption locks the booth and starts a one-hour pause unless an authorised override applies.

Returning for another report

After an automatic cutoff or third interruption, wait one hour unless a host, producer or administrator clears your individual timeout. Ending a report early does not itself trigger this automatic pause; follow the producer’s directions for return reports. An occupied or producer-closed booth still prevents entry.

Why we use these limits

These are audience-flow limits, not a penalty for a brief signal problem. They keep reports concise, make room for other voices and prevent repeated drop-ins turning into an ongoing chat. For an important developing story, arrange an exception: a host, producer or administrator can override a report or clear a specific broadcaster’s pause. Authorised Broadcasters also have in-booth extension/override controls. Longer interviews belong in the host’s Green Room.
